Data Transmission
Data Transmission:-
Data transferring process between two or more digital device is called Data Transmission. Normally data is transferred in form of bits between two or more digital device.
Types of Data Transmission:-
There are two types of data transmission-
(i) Serial Data Transmission
(ii) Parallel Data Transmission
Serial Data Transmission:-
serial-data-transmission |
When data is transferring in serial data transmission the data bits are send one-by-one, if last data bit has been successfully received then the next data bit will ready for sent. People consider this is credible method for data transmission because every data bit confirm that the last data bit is being received by receiver.
There are two types of Serial Data Transmission....
- Synchronous Data Transmission
- Asynchronous Data Transmission
Synchronous Data Transmission:-
Synchronous data transmission required synchronization both sender and receiver in real-time. In synchronous data transmission data is transmitted using clock. In every data byte no gaps are used because before data sends converted the data into blocks and large quantity of data are send in this type of data transmission. It is a real time communication between sender and receiver. This type of data transmission is faster, expensive, and create less error because two sides are synced in the real time. Ex.
- Video conferencing
- Chat Rooms
- Telephones communication etc.
Asynchronous Data Transmission:-
In this type of data transmission not required any synchronization and this is most advantage of this type of data transmission. Have not any constant timing when data byte are transferred. This data transmission used gaps because start bit and stop bit are present in it. It is less expensive and faster from synchronous data transmission. Ex.
- E-mails
- Television etc.
Parallel Data Transmission:-
parallel-transmission |
Parallel transmission allows many bits (normally 8 bits data) to be transmitted from one device to another at the same time over the multiple lines. It is more faster transmission than serial transmission. It is low cost transmission and used in long distance.
Ex. Live video streaming
Data Transmission Mode
There are three types of data transmission mode available....
(i) Simplex Mode
(ii) Half-Duplex Mode
(iii) Full-Duplex Mode
Simplex Transmission:-
simplex-mode |
Simplex transmission is unidirectional or one-way communication. Information flows in the same direction through the line and cannot go in another direction.
Ex. Television connection
Half-Duplex Transmission:-
half-duplex-transmission |
Half-Duplex is two way communication. In this mode the data can go in both directions but at the same time it is not possible.
Ex. Walkie-talkie
Full-Duplex Transmission:-
full-duplex |
It is also two way communication. In this mode data can go in both direction at the same time.
Ex. Wireless mobile phone
